Bhatkal: August 16, 2020 (Bhatkalys News Bureau) Several areas of Bhatkal were inundated as a result of torrential rains in Bhatkal from Sunday morning till evening. Due to this rain which continued throughout the day with strong winds, water accumulated in large quantities on the roads in areas like Shamsuddin Circle, Rangin Katta, Main Road, Azad Nagar, and in some areas of Makhdoom Colony, Chautni etc. Due to improper drainage, water swept in houses, causing a lot of trouble to the people. In Murdeshwar's Dr. Colony, two houses collapsed today as a result of heavy rains, but no casualties have been reported.
This is the first time since the onset of rains in Bhatkal this year that the National Highway at Shamsuddin Circle and Rangin Katta appeared like a pond.
It is to be noted that Bhatkal had stopped receiving rain for the last few days but today's rain disrupted normal life.
