Road accident near Venkatapur bridge; 1 injured

Bhatkal - 30 Aug 2012: A cyclist identified as Syed Hasan (30) from Gulmi was critically injured when his bicycle came under a speeding lorry. The incident occurred today morning at NH-66 near Venkatapur Bridge.

According to the sources, he was returning home after doing work in Shirali. When he reached near Venkatapur bridge, his bicycle was knocked down by a speeding truck and dragged him for some distance along with his bicycle. As a result, he received severe wounds in his legs and a part of his leg was broken into pieces. He was taken to Bhatkal Govt Hospital and later shifted to a private hospital in Kundapur.

According to his friends and neighbours, he is a very hardworking and simple person. He was the only bread winner for his family. After this accident, his family is in trouble and they are not in a position to afford his medical expenses.
