Bhatkal: Residents of Gousia Street are suffering from poor drainage conditions for the past many years because of a pumping station located in the area. The ground water is totally contaminated in this area due to leaking of sewage water. The residents are facing trouble finding pure drinking water as the sewage water leaks into the wells rendering the water unsuitable for drinking purposes. This has forced many residents to shift to other localities.
Speaking to Bhatkallys correspondent, residents of the area said that they have raised their voice against this issue many times in the past, submitted memorandum to CM, and several Govt officials including District DC have already inspected the area but the problem is not resolved yet. The people have not seen progress despite few words of assurance.
The residents have urged the community leaders to take this issue seriously and put efforts to shift the pumping station.
