Residents of Gousia Street staged protest against bad drainage system

Bhatkal – 24 Jan 2013: Residents of Gousia Street who are suffering from poor drainage conditions from many years yesterday staged dharna in front of Assistant Commissioner’s office and submitted memorandum demanding immediate intervention in this matter. Looking the seriousness of the situation, Assistant Commissioner, Mr VP Manohar along with Municipal Chief visited Gousia Street and inspected the area. He directed municipal authorities to take immediate action in this regard.
It may be noted that, residents of this area have raised their voice against this issue many times in the past and several Govt officials including District DC have already inspected the area but the problem is not resolved yet. The people have not seen progress despite few words of assurance. The ground water is totally contaminated in this area due to sewage leak and the river water is also looking dirty.
On this occasion Mr Abdul Salam Chamundi, Mohammed Ali Siddibapa, Social worker Fayyaz Mulla, Mr Jafer Mohtesham Burni, Mr Moula Sharief, Mr Aslam Siddibapa, Mr Hasan Barmawar, Mr Zulfiqar and others were present.
It may be recalled that, bhatkallys.com reporter, Mr Rizwan Gangavali recently highlighted this issue in his special report which forced the authorities to swung into action.
