Residents object to borewell construction

Bhatkal: Apprehensive over the construction of new borewell by Heble Gram Panchayat near Shams School at Jamiabad Road, residents of Heble Gram Panchayat voiced their dissent due to which the panchayat officials had to stop the borewell construction.
N D Moger, President of Heble Gram Panchayat, in this connection said that this borewell was being constructed with district panchayat fund but some residents objected to the construction saying that it will lead to lowering of water-level in their wells.
"The borewell is being constructed at panchayat land and for the benefit of public, hence the residents' outcry is meaningless", he added. The panchayat president further threatened to take the issue forward and pursue legal action against protesting residents.
