Remembering Muallim Bader

baderDubai, May 24, 2011 (Bhatkallys News): The magnanimous smile and illustrious personality of Muallim Hassan Badr is a dear memory for community breathren who were touched by the simplicity and belief of a man who is no longer with us today. Known to be a front-runner in supporting the Bhatkalli community with his close contacts at various government organisations, Muallim Badr was a pioneer in creating avenues for peace.

The unfortunate death of Badr in a road accident has come as a shock to many as condolence messages continue to pour in from Bhatkalli people settled across gulf countries. Presented below is a selection of the messages: Aftab Kola from Oman writes, "Badrul Hasan took keen interest in protecting the wakf properties of Uttara Kannada district from encourages. As a president of Uttara District Wakf Committee, he initiated many programmes to uplift the poor Muslims. Concerned with the hapless conditions of the poor and the downtrodden and the backwardness of the district, Badrul Hasan brought together the financial resources of the Navayath community to help these downtrodden section of the district by building a number of schools and orphanages. The people of Uttara Kannada owes tremendously to the efforts of Badrul Hasan who helped them build their lives from a scratch. Badrul Hasan has been very active on the political front, first as a Janata Party activist and then as a Janata Dal leader. Later, he joined Congress. He had maintained very close contacts with district and state leaders and was in constant touch through meetings and phone calls." Abdul Rahim Jukaku, General Secretary - Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen said, "I remember Badr fondly as an active supporter of educational development policies. He has always worked with students to resolve their issues and he has also served as an election commissioner during Anjuman elections. His demise comes as a great loss to our community and we extend our heartfelt condolence to the family of the berieved." Rahmatullah Rahi, BMJD General Secretary from Dubai said, "The tragic end of Muallim Badr has created a feeling of unbearable loss and there is immense grief within the Bhatkal community in Dubai. He was a true pillar of strength by helping the community through grass-root movements and reform activities. I want to convey my condolence to the family of Muallim Badr and this unsurmountable loss will remain etched in our hearts forever. May Allah grant magfirah to the deceased, Aameen." Damudi Abdullah who is currently in Dubai conveyed his message as follows. "Having closely worked with Muallim Badr over the years in Bhatkal, I can advocate and vouch for the services rendered by him. After the demise of S.M. Yahya, Hafizka and Abdul Gani Mohtesham, Muallim Badr was our ray of hope in striking a chord with government departments and police personnel. He was known among the top ranks as a leading representative of the Bhatkalli voice and his presence always created an effective change through the meetings hosted on several occasions with the police."
