Released from Iran's captivity, Bhatkal fishermen return home; accorded welcome by Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem

Bhatkal fisher who were kept confined by the Iran authorities for six-months for trespassing into their borders while fishing from a Dubai based boat, returned home to Bhatkal on January 16, Wednesday, after their release earlier this month. In Bhatkal, members of Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem including general secretary Altaf Kharuri welcomed the fishermen who arrived to the town from Mangaluru international airport. Members of Jamat-ul-Muslimeen Tengingundi, distributed sweets, garlanded the arrived fishermen to express their happiness on the homecoming of their community members after six-months of hardships and sufferings. Several organizations including NRI forum, Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem, Dr. SM Syed Khaleel, Jamat-ul-Muslimeen Tengingundi were in touch with authorities trying to negotiate the release of the fishermen, which came on January 8, 2019 as a sigh of relief for the fishermen and their family members back here in Bhatkal and nearby towns of Uttara Kannada district.
