A few pictures of a rare type of flower wowed people after they were shared online. The images show Neelakurinji flowers that blossom once in every 12 years. The pictures show these special flowers blossoming in Karnataka’s Mandalapatti hill.
The images have been shared on Twitter by news agency ANI. While sharing the pictures, they also posted a small yet descriptive caption. “Neelakurinji flowers, which bloom once every 12 years, seen at Mandalapatti hill in Kodagu district,” they wrote.
The pictures were shared a day ago on August 18. Since being posted, the tweet has gathered almost 10,000 likes and the numbers are only increasing. People expressed how the images left them mesmerised. A few also shared how they have seen the flowers blossoming at other places.
“Strobilanthes kunthiana, known as Kurinji or Neelakurinji in Malayalam and Tamil, is a shrub that is found in the shola forests of the Western Ghats in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Nature's beautiful gift to India,” wrote a Twitter user explaining about the flowers. “Wow,” expressed another. “Thank you for posting this on my rather gloomy timeline,” commented a third.
