Ramadan Kareem: Holy month in Bhatkal begins on Thursday

17, June 2015 | Correspondent | Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: The qazis of Bhatkal announced the onset of Ramadan on Wednesday evening shortly before Isha prayers after reports of Crescent moon sightings from Kapad, near Calicut. Taraaweeh prayers were held in all masjids of Bhatkal with religious vigour. In Bhatkal too, efforts were made to sight the crescent but it could not be sighted because of dense clouds. On Thursday, people in Bhatkal and nearby areas including Mangalore and Kerala will observe fast to mark the first day of Ramadan.
