Rains lash Uttara Kannada

Parts of North Karnataka, especially Uttara Kannada district, received heavy rains on Sunday. The rains, which had lost steam over the past few days in Uttara Kannada district, gained pace on Sunday. While it drizzled in Bhatkal, Kumta and Ankola, heavy rains lashed Karwar towards evening. Badami, Hungund, Ilkal, Guledagudda in Bagalkot district received heavy rains. Water gushed into low-lying areas and farm fields. Standing crops in hundreds of acres were washed away as the bund of a huge tank gave away near Bandri village in Sandur taluk of Ballari district late on Saturday night. - DHNS
