Almost all emirates in the country recorded light to moderate rainfall on Monday even as cloudy conditions prevailed, bringing down temperature.
Al Rashidiya, Al Qusais, Al Twar and Al Nahda areas in Dubai had short spells of heavy rain between 11am and 12 noon, while Al Rolla, Buhairah Corniche, King Faisal Street and Yarmook areas of Sharjah experienced light to moderate showers in the morning.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) in Abu Dhabi, light to moderate rain will continue till the weekend due to the unstable weather conditions.
The maximum temperature today will be between 24 and 26 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature is expected to be between 9 and 15 in the internal parts of the country.
The NCMS recorded rainfall from Sunday midnight till 3pm on Monday in different regions of the country. While Al Dhaid recorded 4mm of rain, Al Ghatarah and Al Shuwaib recorded 2.6mm, Al
Manama 1.2mm, Al Raodha and Shamam 0.6mm, Jais 0.4mm and Seh Al Sulm 0.2mm. A few areas in Al Ain city received moderate rain showers on
Monday afternoon. Fujairah and its suburbs also recorded moderate to heavy rainfall in the afternoon resulting in a significant fall in temperatures.
Abu Dhabi also reported light drizzle in parts. Cloudy weather in Abu Dhabi caused a dip in the temperature as moderate winds turned the atmosphere very cold during the day.
The NCMS has cautioned motorists to drive slowly as wet and slippery roads could cause skidding and low visibility could result in accidents.
Forecasters predict light drizzle and moderate showers in the coming days over the northern and western areas. Open areas, notably the western and internal areas, may be prone to dust kicked up by moderate to fresh winds. A recorded forecast by the Dubai Meteorological Services (DMS) mentioned the risk of thunderstorms over some areas.
Strong winds during the day caused waves to reach up to eight feet high in the deep sea. The centre has warned beach-goers against venturing out into the seas.
Cloudy weather is expected to continue and relative humidity is expected to further increase during night and early morning, the centre said.
Meanwhile, there will be light to moderate winds, while the sea wave height will be two to four feet offshore.
