Rahul Gandhi will spend 20 minutes in each farmer's house in Mandya district

BENGALURU: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi will spend 20 minutes each with families of two farmers who committed suicide in Mandya district. He'll arrive in Bengaluru on Friday and take a chopper to Mandya at 9.45am. He'll visit the homes of farmer Mahesh from Panakanahalli and Madegowda of Kothathi village. The district witnessed the highest number of suicides, 54 of the total 540 in three months from April. Farmers here are expecting the announcement of loan waiver and special relief package from the government. The Siddaramaiah gover nment has already waived the interest on loans taken by farmers. The district administration has provided jobs at the Sewage Treatment Plant for Madhu, son of farmer Rajendra, from Srirangapatna taluk who committed suicide due to crop loss and debt. Rahul will return to VC Far m and interact with farmers at the Agriculture University, meet district party leaders and return to Bengaluru to meet gram panchayat members. -TOI
