Radars catch 51,891 traffic violations in 11 months

The use of radars has led to a reduction in the number of traffic accidents compared to previous years.

Around 52,000 traffic violations were caught on radars, including the newly-installed Al Burj radars, in the past 11 months from across the emirate. According to the General Department of Traffic of the Dubai Police, 51,891 traffic violations were registered based on radar recordings. Colonel Saif Mohair Al Mazroui, Director of the General Directorate of Traffic in Dubai Police said that the use of radars has led to a reduction in the number of traffic accidents compared to previous years, thereby bringing down the mortality rate. He said that the Al Burj radars have multiple cameras which could capture photos of vehicles in both directions and can determine the speed of vehicles. Al Mazroui added that the registered cases include 20,780 violations for crossing the red light, 6,512 in lane changing, 86 violations for use of mobile phone, and 19 violations for wrong installation of the number plates. -arabnews
