Puttur tense after truck driver allegedly asked mobile number to a girl of different community

Puttur Dec 19 2017: Communal tension gripped the Taluk, when people of two-different communities had a face off outside Sampaya Police Station on Monday Dec 18 evening.
The backdrop of the incident was a minor altercation between a truck driver and a family, when the truck driver Yousuf, allegedly asked for the cellphone number of a young girl when he had stopped his truck outside her house. When the girl complaint about the indecent behavior to her mother, the mother started lashing out at Yousuf following which he left the place.
When Yousuf reached his destination Vaindinadka, a mob allegedly attacked him, Police rushed to the spot and took Yousuf into custody at Sampaya Police Station.
Leaders and people of both the communities reached the police station and had a face-off and verbal arguments regarding the issue. Looking at the sensitivity of the case, District Superintendent of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy reached Sampaya Police Station and brought situation under control.
Later, several people were taken into custody and were questioned for creating law and order situation outside police station.
