Bhatkal: "Tipu Sultan never differentiated between Hindus and Muslims and the proof of this is that Hindus held high posts in his administration and his Chief Adviser was also a Hindu. The misunderstandings created regarding Tipu Sultan were all handiwork of British", said Maulana Ilyas Jakti at a public function organized at Public Chabutra (opposite Old Bus Stand) on Tuesday to mark the birth anniversary of Tipu Sultan.
Citing many historical facts, the maulana said that Tipu Sultan provided monetary aid and land to build many temples. Terming him as the first missile man of Asia he said that one of his wives was from Bhatkal and he had an army base in Bhatkal too.
On this occasion, Imtiyaz Khan (Lecturer) also mentioned about Tipu's sacrifices for India. The Assistant Commissioner of Bhatkal and other community leaders were present at the occasion.
