Bhatkal: 22 February 2021 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) The people of 20 Bhatkal taluka castes, under the auspices of Hetha RakshnaVedika, today staged a protest rally, with no change in reservation policy and no new backward classes of community protesting not to be included in 2A. The protest rally was taken out from PururgaKasmodiKatta, after which the rally reached Shamsuddin Circle from Main Road via Chautni and flower market and ended at the police field via Sagar Road. Swami Shri BrahmanandaSaraswati of Ujira Math addressed the protesters on the occasion and said that the government was seeking to grab the rights of the backward classes, which was totally incorrect. The state should stop this or else the agitation will escalate and reach the assembly and we will be forced to go to the Supreme Court if it does not happen. Swamiji said the government should take the reservation issue seriously. He said great care should be taken to not breach the rights of anybody. He mentioned that Articles 14 and 15 of the Constitution do not discriminate between any Caste and Religion, referring to the Indian Constitution. Article 16 also safeguards the rights of the poor, backward castes, and scheduled castes, but in this manner, minorities will be affected by government decisions and the Constitution will be violated. Swamiji warned the government that if the central government approves the report of the state government against the backward castes, strong protests will take place and the door to the Supreme Court will be knocked. On the occasion, MLA Sunil Naik, former MLA JD Naik, and others also shared their opinions.
