MANGALURU: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Gosamrakshana Samiti will take out a mammoth vehicle rally and jatha on foot on July 13 to protest against cattle trafficking in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district. The vehicle rally will start from leading religious places in Udupi, Dharmasthala, Puttur, Moodbidri and Talapady before converging at Mahavir (Pumpwell) Circle. From there, the jatha on foot will proceed to Nehru Maidan. Hukum Singh, vice-president of national unit of the Samiti, will deliver the keynote address, said MB Puranik, regional president of VHP. "The country's cattle wealth is of utmost importance in an agrarian country like India," Puranik said, adding that its importance is felt by people irrespective of their caste, creed or religion. "This is not an issue that pertains only to the VHP, Bajrang Dal, or other Hindu religious organizations," Puranik said. -TOI
