Protest over water shortage in Muttali Gram Panchayat

March 27, 2016 | Rizwan Gangavaly | Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: In a bid to protest against acute drinking water shortage in Muttali Gram Panchayat area and the negligence of panchayat officials in this regard, residents of the area staged protest in the gram panchayat demanding postponing of gram sabha meeting. Looking at the sensitivity of the situation, the meeting had to be adjourned for an indefinite period. Demanding a solution to the water shortage crisis before the gram sabha meet, the residents alleged carelessness on the part of panchayat officials and said that the issue has been raised in front of the officials for the past three to four years but the officials are not paying any heed to the demands. On this occasion, district panchayat member Albert D'costa appealed for restraint and assured definite solution to this problem. - ARF
