Protest against continuous power-cut held

Bhatkal - The residents of Bhatkal staged protest in front of HESCOM office on Wednesday against the frequent power-cut and load-shedding and demanded immediate solutions to this problem. Due to absence of officials at the office, frustrated people tried to lock the office but the local police have not allowed them to do so. The frustrated mob then turned to AC office and complaint about the negligence and failure of HESCOM in restoring the normal supply of Electricity in the town. After hearing the grievances, AC Dr. Anuradha scheduled a meeting of HESCOM officials and the local leaders in the evening at Circuit House where HESCOM's technical director Mr. Chikka Nanjappa and other officials were invited.
On this occasion several public representatives including Mr. Surendra Shanbagh, President Seva Vahini Trust, Mr. Mohammed Saib Mohtesham, President Bhatkal Merchant Association, Mr. Badrul Hasan Muallim, President Tanzeem Bhatkal, Mr. Krishna Naik and Mr. Dinesh Naik, local BJP leaders, Govinda and President Hindu Jagran Vedikke have explained the problems being faced by the residents and demanded the immediate solution to this problem.
The leaders also demanded 110KV line and a backup line from MESCOM for Bhatkal town, so that in the case of any failure from the HESCOM line the power from MESCOM could be resumed.
After hearing the grievances from the local leaders, HESCOM's Technical Director Chikka Nanjappa assured them of taking necessary steps. He also explained the reason for 36-hour power failure in the town. He said, this was occurred due to malfunctioning of insulators at two separate places. He also assured the people that such problems will not arise in future.
On this occasion Bhatkal ASP Dr. Rohini, CPI Guru Mathur, Seva Vahini's Surendra Shanbhag, TMC President Inayatullah Shabandri, Tanzeem Gen Secretary S M Parvez, Secretary Abdur Raqueeb MJ, Siddique Ismail of Bhatkal Merchant Association and others were present.
