Prostitution racket busted in Karwar; six women rescued

Karwar 18 August 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Karwar police on Friday busted a prostitution racket, wherein the trafficked girls from North-Karnataka were forced into prostitution in a private hotel at KHB colony of Karwar. Working on a tip-off, DCB inspector Shankar Gowda Patel along with the Karwar police raided the hotel and rescued as many as six women from here. During the raid, the police arrested Gulabi Naik (49) of Karwar as prime accused. Moreover, the police have also detained Hotel Manager Maruti Rane (60) and Receptionist Paresh (37) for their alleged involvement in the business with her. According to the sources, the trafficked women belonged from Hubli, Dharwad and Bijapur. A case has been registered at Karwar town police station and further investigations are underway.
