"Pressurize central government to let Navy conduct search operation for missing fishermen from Malpe" Bhatkal fishermen demands in memorandum to CM

Bhatkal 03 December 2019: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Hundreds of local fishermen along with general public on Thursday marched a huge protest across Bhatkal and submitted a memorandum to Assistant Commissioner Sajid Mulla urging him to rescue the fishermen who went for fishing from Malpe port and went missing while fishing near the coast of Maharashtra. The Memorandum addressing to Chief Minister of Karnataka stated that “The Boat Suvarna Tribuja, led by Chandrashekhar Kotya which ventured into the Arabian sea from Malpe port of Udupi on December 13, evening, lost communication two days later on December 15. Though it has been more than 20 days, no prompt attempt of searching the fishermen has been taken till now.” The Memorandum urged the state government, police department and coastal guards to conduct an effective search operation and also pressurize the Central Government to let Naval force conduct search operation to trace them. The memorandum further warned of carrrying out a massive protest along with the fishermen of various Taluks and district in case of failure in search operation with in a week. Assistant commissioner Sajjid Mulla accepted the Memorandum and assured to discuss the matter with District Commissioner and bring the matter under the notice of Chief Minister of Karnataka. The fishermen who went missing along with their fishing boat included two men from Bhatkal, two from Kumta, one from Honnavar and remaining two from Malpe. On this occasion Bhatkal Bunder Boat Fishing Union, Fishermen Unions of Tengingundi, Shri Durgaparameshwari Transport Association Alvikodi, Traditional fishing boat union and others were present.
