Preparations underway for poll day: Bhatkal AC

Bhatkal 13 April 2019:(Bhatkallys News Bureau) Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner (AC) Sajjid Ahmed Mulla on Saturday called a press meet and gave an overview on the arrangements for upcoming Lok Sabha Election in the Uttara Kannada Constituency. Addressing the media, AC said, “We have maintained a single window system at our office which comprises of Municipality and police department which helps the political parties and the candidates to get permission on any programs within 24 hours. So, there are no delays at the work front.” “For voter’s awareness and promoting voter literacy in the district, Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programs have been initiated at various places by the Zilla Panchayat CEO Roshan” he added. “Voters ID is not compulsory for casting votes. People who have lost voter IDs or for any reason cannot furnish voter ID cards then they can still cast their votes by providing 11 other photo IDs provided by government of India. The condition for this is, the voter shall have his name enrolled in the voting list”. “People who feel difficult to walk, wheelchairs have been arranged for them while magnifying glasses have been kept at all voting centers for the voters who find it difficult to see the list of candidates. A day before the election all the basic facilities including drinking water will be installed in the polling booths”. “The EVM preparation work will begin tomorrow at Shri Guru Sudhindra College with a tight security enforced by the police department. The training for about 1096 officers from various Taluka has already been provided for conducting the election and the 2nd phase of training will be given on 16th April at Anand Ashram school in Bhatkal where the officers will be given training for conduction free and fair election.
