Karwar: The Honnavar division of the Hubli Electricity Supply Company (HESCOM) has announced a scheduled power outage in several parts of Kumta, Honnavar, and Bhatkal taluks on March 22 due to urgent maintenance work.
According to officials, electricity supply will be disrupted from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM as HESCOM undertakes the replacement of battery chargers and battery sets at the 110 kV Sirsi-Kumta transmission line. During this period, power will be sourced from the 220 kV power receiving station in Karwar. However, due to the anticipated overload on the 110 kV Karwar-Kumta line, rural areas in the affected taluks will experience temporary power cuts.
Additionally, similar maintenance work at the 110 kV substation in Sirsi will lead to further disruptions in power supply in several rural areas of Kumta. The affected areas include Madanagere, Bankikodla, Gangavali, Tadadi, Om Beach, Murur-Kallabbe, Santheguli, Ullurmath, Hodkeshirur, Mirjan, Katagale, Dhareshwar, Valgalli, Bada, and Hegde feeder regions. This outage is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on March 22.
HESCOM officials, including the Assistant Executive Engineer of Kumta, have appealed to consumers to cooperate with the scheduled maintenance, assuring that the work is essential to improve the reliability of power supply in the region.
