Post-revaluation, Mysuru boy becomes II PU science topper

The results of II PU revaluation announced on Friday have thrown up new state toppers. While Ravish Suresh Bannihatti of Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala in Mysuru got 597 marks to overtake previous topper Rakshita Thaman who, had scored 596 in the science stream, Vaishnavi R Ballal from Expert PU College, Mangaluru, shared the second spot with Rakshita with 596. Ravish had earlier scored 589 out of 600. But, after revaluation, his total marks increased by eight taking the total to 597. He secured eight more marks in English, in which he was granted 90 out of 100 earlier. Ravish is the son of B P Suresh, assistant director at Karnataka Milk Federation, Bengaluru, and Dr Nalini. He has scored centum in Sanskrit, Physics, Mathematics and Biology and 99 in chemistry. Speaking to DH, Ravish said he was confident his tally would go up after revaluation. His English teacher had advised him to go in for revaluation. "I am happy on becoming the state topper,” said Ravish. He said he studied for five to six hours a day and had began preparations from his I PUC days. Expert PU College secretary Usha Prabha Nayak told reporters in Mangaluru that Ravish was the student of Expert Coaching class vacation batch. Vaishnavi scored 100 in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and Sanskrit. But her score in English was 90. After revaluation, her total shot up to 596 out of 600. Vaishnavi has secured the 242nd rank in the All India Medical Entrance Exams, 7th rank in CET ISMH, 5th rank in agriculture, 22nd in medical, 19th in engineering, 22nd in veterinary and 64th rank in B-Pharm. Vaishnavi said she wants to pursue medicine and aspires to be a neurosurgeon like her father.
