Police seeking arrest of woman who dumped newborn

DUBAI - Police are seeking the arrest of a woman who allegedly strangled her newborn baby and dumped him in a bathroom rubbish bin at Dubai airport, local daily Gulf News reported on Monday.

The woman apparently gave birth to the baby in the bathroom before tying him with the umbilical cord, putting him in a plastic bag and throwing him in the bin, according to the newspaper.

She then boarded a flight back to an African country, the newspaper reported. The report did not give the woman's name or country of origin.

The body of the baby was discovered by a cleaner following a complaint by a passenger of blood in the bathroom, according to Gulf News.

Police have identified the woman through CCTV and, in cooperation with Interpol, have requested her arrest in her country of origin, the newspaper reported.
