Police detain woman in connection to Shiroor Seer death case

Udupi: In a major development to the mysterious death of Shiroor seer Lakshmivaratheertha Swamiji, the Udupi district police have detained a woman employee of the seer. Shiroor seer Lakshmivaratheertha Swamiji died on July 19, Thursday owing to multiple organ failure. The doctors of the private hospital in Manipal, where he was treated suspected that Swamiji may have been poisoned. Within days, media reports claimed that a mysterious lady employee of the Swamiji had made her way into the Matha and has had an undisputed influence on Swamiji. Lakshmivaratheertha Swamiji was admitted to KMC Hospital on Wednesday when he showed symptoms of food poisoning. However, his condition went worse and died on Thursday morning. Following the death of Swamiji, the Udupi district Superintendent of Police Lakshman Nimbargi had cordoned off Hiriyadka Shiroor Moola Matha from July 19 to 21 for investigations.
