People gheraod AC office for stopping Construction work of Masjid

Bhatkal – 25 Jan 2013: Angry mob gheraod Assistant Commissioner’s office protesting against stopping  construction work of Noor Masjid yesterday. According to the sources, the expansion work of Noor Masjid at the back side is underway from few months, but recently the municipal authorities stopped the work saying the construction is illegal as it is very close to old Dargah building which is under Waqf board. To protest against this decision and to get permission to start the work, people gathered outside AC office and demanded permission to resume work. On this occasion, Bhatkal AC, Mr VP Manohar listened the complaints of Masjid committee and asked Municipal Chief, Ms Anupama to present her viewpoint on this issue. Ms Anupama gave her explanation saying that, there is an old Dargah where the construction work is going on and that land belongs to Waqf board, so it is illegal to construct anything on this land. After listening the grievances, Bhatkal AC assured people that he will take decision only after visiting the place. On this occasion Mr Mohtesham Saib, Mr D H Shabber, Mr Abdul Salam Chamundi, Mr Altaf Kharuri, Mr Ashfaque K M, Mr Abdul Azeem Ambari, Mr Siddiqa Meeran, Mr Imtiyaz Udyawar and others were present.
