Over 1 lakh kg Fitrah rice collected, distributed among over 1900 families in Bhatkal: Fitrah Committee

Bhatkal: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Over 1 lakh kg of rice was distributed among over 1900 families across Bhatkal as a part of the Fitrah Committee’s efforts during this Ramadan here in Bhatkal. The information was shared by Moulana Ilyas Jakti, the convener of the Bhatkal Fitrah Committee.
During an Eid-Milan event organised to evaluate the Fitrah distribution during Eid-ul-Fitr this year, Moulana Ilyas noted that rice of over 1,10,000 kg was collected and distributed among over 1900 families this year.
He further added that 56 zones were created in Bhatkal, Honnavar, Kumta, and Shiroor where the collected Fitrah rice was distributed.
Detailing the distribution of rice, Moulana Ilyas stated that each of the 1900 families was given 50 kgs of rice on average while a few select families with very extreme poverty were given rice up to 100 kgs.
Moulana Ilyas thanked several local sports clubs and gulf Jamaats of Bhatkal for their contribution adding that the Fitrah Committee has been active in Bhatkal for the past 37 years and has been relentlessly working in collecting and distributing Fitrah rice. He also added that each year, the figure for collection and distribution goes a notch higher and set unprecedented numbers every year.
