“Open your mind and believe in yourself”, says VTU topper Nabeel Musthafa

These were the words of Nabeel Musthafa, in an exclusive interview with Bhatkallys.com, as he gave this philosophical piece of advice to all the student community. Nabeel Musthafa, the extra-ordinary gem of Anjuman Institute of Technology and Management, Bhatkal, who created history by grabbing 12 gold medals in the examinations of prestigious Visveswaraya Technical University. A student of Civil engineering and currently pursuing his masters said, ‘his parents has always been a source of inspiration to him, as they have been with him through better and bitter times’ and conveyed his love to his whole family for being there. When asked about the kind of role did the professors play in machining, he said ‘My professors had done quite a wonderful job in teaching as well as analyzing my potential. They have constantly backed me up with necessary guidance through all these years and helped me strike right at the bull's eye’. As he spoke about how teachers played the most important part in his achievement. When asked about his motivations and inspirations, Nabeel replied in a rather very interesting and literal answer and said, ‘I have read biographies of great personalities such as Einstein, Thomas Edison and say more, even our ex-president Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Most of them speculate that they have undergone lot of difficulties and painstaking efforts to study and achieve something in their lives. Being blessed with certain amenities in life, I believe that we should take its advantage and attain something that’s worthy.’ Cliché! As the answers explained how step by step this extraordinary gentleman achieved this faith to scratch history. When asked about what his plans are for the future and whether or not he was expecting to be the university topper, he said, ‘I had been expecting to be a rank holder in this university but to become a topper, quite surprised me. I don’t agree to people stating that I had achieved success through this. I would rather consider this as a milestone and would sing with pleasure, ''The woods are lovely, dark and deep, but I have promises to keep and miles to go before my sleep and miles to go before my sleep”. As he had been living in Bhatkal for his engineering, when we asked him about the institution and the town he responded in a very satisfying way that reflects his joy of experiencing the scenic town.’ Bhatkal as a place amazed me with its gorgeous scenic beauty and tranquility. My experience in this institute was one of a kind and it is definitely a memory that I would like to cherish lifelong’. To go around to complete the interview we asked him to share some tips to our readers and the students reading this as he replied, ‘My tips to students would be that it is always better to learn concepts of any subject rather than studying all day long without understanding and bearing no fruit at the end.
