Only 500 people allowed in Karnataka for wedding ceremonies, new guidelines announced

Bengaluru: CM Bommai led Karnataka government on Friday issued new set of COVID guidelines after the state reported two cases of Omicron variant of COVID-19. The new guidelines were issued after the Chief Minister held a high-level meeting with officials of Health Ministry and other departments to discuss the measures to control the possible outbreak of the new variant of the virus. Revenue Minister R Ashok who announced the new guidelines after the meeting said only 500 people will be allowed at wedding ceremonies in the state until further notice. It also added that parents of students attending schools and colleges will also have to mandatorily get both doses of COVID vaccines. Similarly, people with both doses of COVID vaccines will be allowed at shopping malls and movie theatres. The government has also barred schools and colleges from organising any events or meetings in their campuses.
