One more road accident, one more death in Bhatkal

Bhatkallys News Bureau/ Ismail Zaorez Bhatkal, 21 February 2018: In a gruesome accident at Bhatkal's town center, a resident of Madeena Colony lost his life after being run over by a truck on NH 66 near Hotel Kola Paradise. The accident took place earlier today as eyewitnesses described a horrific sight with blood and gore covering sections of the highway. The victim has been identified as Ibrahim Shaikh Abdulla (75), a retired public works department employee of Bhatkal. According to eye witnesses, Ibrahim was riding a scooter when a heavy-truck attempted to overtake him. The sudden manoeuvre caught Ibrahim by surprise as the truck brushed his scooter and Ibrahim was caught under the truck’s wheel. The horrific accident shocked onlookers as the police officials rushed to the scene. According to his family members, Ibrahim was on his way to State Bank of India when the incident took place. Ibrahim was taken to the Taluka Government Hospital Bhatkal where he was declared dead on arrival and a post-mortem procedure is currently underway. A case has been registered at Bhatkal Town Police Station and the truck diver fled the scene immediately after the accident and a police team led by PSI Kudgunti has launched the manhunt for him.
