One dead, 17 people hospitalized after drinking contaminated water in Vartur

Bengaluru Dec 31 2017: A daily wage laborer died while 17 other people have been hospitalized due to the consumption of contaminated water in Vartur. The incident took place on a construction site of an apartment that was undertaken by the Shobha developers in Vartur.
The deceased has been identified as Shrikanth Sahu, a daily wage laborer at the site.
About 19 workers who were affected by the disruption of water were immediately taken to St. John Hospital of which twelve are said to be stable. The cause of the death of Shrikanth and illness is said to be the usage of water for drinking purpose from Valtur’s lake.
The local police have registered a case and has began their investigation after Shrikanth's brother Somanath Sahu filed a complaint, demanding a thorough investigation of the matter.
