Muscat - Eid Milan, which embodies the spirit of universal brotherhood and unity, is an event the Indian diaspora in Oman always looks forward to. The Indian Community Eid Milan 2010 will be held on the day of eid at Indian School Al Ghubra. The open-to-all programme will begin at 7.30pm and will encompass fellowship, short talks and nazms followed by refreshments. Organised under the aegis of Eid Milan Committee (Embassy of India, Indian Social Club and prominent Indian Muslims) the Eid Milan 2010 has been planned well in advance to prepare well for the event.
'Eid Milan creates sense of camaraderie and a feeling of unity that stitches the fabric of the cross-section of the society in Oman, says Anil Wadhwa, ambassador of India to Oman. Ramadan Eid is the culmination of a month-long fasting and a time for celebration. I am personally very happy to be a part of these celebrations he said.
In a bid to ensure large participation, which requires planning well in advance, the reception committee recently met to chalk out the details of the Eid Milan. Yusuf Nalwala, who has been playing a pivotal role in organising eid Milan for the last two decades, said: "Ramadan comes year after year to remind us to reassess our commitment to Allah for upholding and practising His directives as revealed in the Holy Quran. And Eid is the gift from Allah for having practised the obligations of the month of Ramadan .We hope to see a large gathering which will include Muslims as well as non-Muslims."
Dr Satish Nambiar, chairman of Indian Social Club, and Aftab Kola, co-ordinator of the Eid Milan 2010, have requested people to spread the word about this function and to encourage people to attend the Eid Milan programme.
The Eid Milan Committee has appealed to all the members of the society to participate whole heartedly in the Eid-milan and be a part of an effort to promote goodwill and harmony.
