The moment you think of chatting, WhatsApp is the first thing that comes to your mind! This social media-messaging app has released a new version, which supports Urdu and is also expected to allow you to chat in Bengali.
A report by ProPakistani stated that WhatsApp will be available in Urdu for Android users during its initial stages. Make sure you switch the language setting of your handset to Urdu before upgrading the app. Media reports also state that the latest WhatsApp update also offers Pakistan flag emoji.
Who has developed the Urdu version of WhatsApp?
As reported earlier, Ahsan Saeed had been working with Twitter as an Urdu localisation moderator since 2012. WhatsApp invited several volunteers for its new translation project. Saeed was appointed as the Translation Administrator for WhatsApp a few months ago. Saeed translated 753 strings and moderated 2089 strings in less than 3 months and made Urdu 18th language, in which WhatsApp for Android has been fully translated.
The Urdu version of WhatsApp aims to make the communication process convenient in Pakistan, and for other Urdu speakers around the world.
