Now, ID nos for rickshaw drivers in Bhatkal

26 Aug 2013 / Rizwan Gangavaly / Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: In view of rising incidents of rapes and other crimes in the country, Bhatkal Police have introduced an ID number plate for auto-rickshaws. This ID number plate will be put on the front window screen and will help identify the auto-rickshaw. Speaking to press reporters on the occasion of the launch, Mr. Beli Ayappa said that "Looking at the rising incidents of crimes, Bhatkal police have introduced this new step in order to control crime. Apart from it, this will help if someone forgets their belongings in the auto. It will also help trace the auto-driver in cases where auto-driver escapes the scene after an accident." In response to a question, CPI Mr. Beli Ayappa said that this ID number is linked with the bio-data which will be present with the police officials and this will help in their identification. 30th September has been fixed as the closing date for the ID number plates installation. On this occasion, Bhatkal town police station PSI Johnson Dsouza, Rickshaw Union President Venkatesh Naik, Nagraj Shetty, Manjunath Naik, Mastappa Naik and others were present.
