Udupi/Kota: “Some Lok Sabha election ticket aspirant for the Udupi Chikmagalur constituency have joined in with 15-20 people and started the ‘Go back’ campaign against me. I am not scared of this. The people will support me,” said MP Shobha Karandlaje responding to a question by the reports regarding the ‘Go back’ twitter campaign against her on Sunday February 24th.
Speaking to the media the MP said, “I may have no power of money or religion. I may have no support, but being a woman I have done enough work in my constituency. One of the ticket aspirants is insulting me with such social media campaign. What have male MPs have done for their district till now? I have done what they could not. I have not undertaken those works for the district to secure ticket for next election. I have worked for the party from last 25 years. Those who are questioning me should come for a discussion," she invited.
More work done than men
“Earlier, men used to represent Udupi Chikmagalur constituency. I have done more development work than they have. New passport office has been opened in Udupi. Karnataka's only Sakhi centre is in Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency. Two Kendriya Vidyalayas have come up in Udupi. We have opened GTDC and skill training centre. I have provided Rs 550 crore CRF funds and all the roads in both the districts are going to be national highways,” she said.
Failure of the state government
Speaking in connection to the fire mishap during Aero India show in Bengaluru, the MP said that it was the state government's failure.
"People from various countries came to witness the show. We had decided to shift the air show to other state. Why could the police department and fire brigade not ensure safety of vehicles? Is there a hand of anti-nationals in the fire incident? Is there a link to Pulwama attack? There should be a high level enquiry,” she urged.
