Bhatkal 16 November 2016: Refuting social media claims of a final verdict by the Supreme Court in favour of Muslims, a senior member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board has provided much needed clarity on the recent developments in the Uniform Civil Code case.  Moulana Ilyas Jakti Nadvi, Member, AIMPLB said, "We have collected and submitted signatures from more than five million Muslim women and submitted it to the apex court." However, he also confirmed there was no verdict by the Supreme Court, as stated in Whatsapp messages.  "There have been numerous messages claiming a verdict has been passed in favor of Muslims. This is untrue and it seems to be a planned conspiracy to weaken the petition campaign. The issue is not over and  Moulana Wali Rehmani also confirmed a hearing date was yet to be decided by the apex court and once all views are taken into consideration by the court - there will be further developments.  "The date for submitting all signature petitions closed on 15th November and a final verdict in implementing a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will take time. The court will hear arguments from both sides and arrive at a ruling. We are positive that the evidence and values mentioned in Indian constitution will be upheld by the  Supreme Court," added Moulana Ilyas.  He requested people to ignore rumours on social media and strongly involve themselves in the signature campaign and spread the awareness among people.
