No takers for 18,861 engineering seats this year

students As many as 18,861 engineering seats have no takers this year. They include both KEA and Comed-K seats.  The second and final round of seat allotment results were posted on the Karnataka Examination Authority website on Thursday. As many as 8,730 engineering seats in general merit and 46 in Super Numerary Quota (SNQ) were remaining. When it comes to Comed-K, 10,085 engineering seats are remaining after the final round of counselling for engineering on July 24. The number of engineering seats going vacant this year is lower compared to the previous year's 2,000 vacant seats. Allotted seats Apart from engineering, all the seats (government quota) in all other courses including Medical, Dental, Architecture and Farm Sciences were completely taken and no seats were remaining. In all, out of the 67,989 seats, 59,213 seats were allotted and 8,776 seats remained. With regard to Comed-K, as many as 37 seats in Architecture are remaining. The Comed-K final round counselling for Medical will commence on Friday and the entire counseling will draw to an end by Saturday. For this year's counselling of seats in the government quota, there were 2,457 Medical, 848 Dental, 549 Architecture and 2,172 Farm Sciences seats, by the time of the second round of counselling, as per statistics available with the examination authority. The ISMH counselling or the seat matrix is yet to be announced and is expected to take place by mid-August. Admission KEA officials said there were no plans of another round of counselling as of now. Students have been asked to report to colleges by July 29, 2013 before 4 pm and also immediately update it on the KEA website by logging in through the password given to them.   DHNS
