No permission required for private functions, says Udupi DC Priyanka

Bhatkallys News Bureau/ Wafa Kifa Udupi 04 April 2018: DC Priyanka Mary Francis on Tuesday confirmed that there is no need to obtain permission from Returning Officers (RO) to conduct private functions on private premises. She was clarifying about seeking permission in the backdrop of election code of conduct in the state for any event, at a Press meet held in DC Office, Udupi on Tuesday, April3. DC Mary said private programs which are not of political nature or does not have any political agenda do not require permission. However, if the private program are conducted in public places like Auditorium, Kalyan Mantapa then organizers have to obtain permission, including for the use of loudspeakers, from the authorities. Meanwhile, organizers of non-political program, including staging of Yakshagana, have to submit an undertaking to the Returning Officer or to the local authority/police station that the program is not being conducted for any political purpose. She further said that a single window system would soon be place at the offices of all Returning Officers to seek permission to hold public programmes. People need not approach the DC for permission, she said. Laxman Nimbargi Superintendent of Police Udupi District and Anuradha G Additional DC were also present in the press meet.
