No more ban on sand mining in Uttara Kannada district

Bhatkallys News (7 March, 2017) – Uttara Kannada District MP, Anant Kumar has confirmed the reconstitution of a Coastal Watch Committee, in accordance with instructions issued by the central government. Approvals for sand mining will be made easier as part of the newly formed committee. Earlier, a ban on sand mining restricted construction activity in coastal areas, with sand prices sky rocketing in recent times. The new committee is expected to speed up work on resuming sand mining – especially near Sharavati river and other coastal zones.
