Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday completed two years in office and said on the occasion that the last two years have been exemplary in terms of development that the state has witnessed. “Today, we have completed two years in the government. We thank the Centre for extending their full cooperation in the development of the state,” Adityanath said. The last two years have been exemplary in terms of development and have witnessed a turnaround of sorts in Uttar Pradesh’s fortunes, he added. “From farmers to the poor and needy, we have ensured that all get benefited by the developmental schemes of the Uttar Pradesh government,” the UP CM said. Adityanath stressed that the BJP government has ensured corruption-free governance with law and order in control, as compared to the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party governments in the past where there was absolute anarchy. The Bharatiya Janata Party leader said the state had witnessed hundreds of communal riots during the last regime of Samajwadi Party including the Muzaffarnagar riots of 2013, but in the last two years, under our watch there has not been a single communal incident. “We ensured return of hundreds of majority community families who had left places like Kairana and Kandhla for fear of anti-social elements,” the Chief Minister stated. “There have been about 3,300 police encounters in the last two years in which 74 criminals have been eliminated,” he added. Adityanath also informed that the investment in the state has seen a jump of more than 150% as compared to the SP-BSP regime. On Monday, SP chief and former state CM Akhilesh Yadav had described the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government as a "curse" for the people of Uttar Pradesh. Akhilesh said people were disappointed as the government had "failed" to deliver on all fronts. Akhilesh said Adityanath government had not delivered on any of its promises and has been only claiming credit for the works started by the erstwhile SP government. "The present government could not implement any of its schemes in two years. It only tried to take credit of works initiated by the SP government. However, the people know the reality and the BJP stands exposed in front of them," Akhilesh claimed. "The BJP government will be completing two years in the state tomorrow. This period has been like a curse for the people of the state who are disappointed and demoralised due to the government which failed on all fronts," he alleged yesterday. Akhilesh said the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh had turned worse and incidents of murder, loot, abduction and rape were increasing by the day. "The BJP government ruined the Dial 100 and 1090 women powerline launched by the SP government," he alleged. He said the farmers were a "harried lot" under the BJP government and many of them were forced to take the extreme step of committing suicide. He rebutted Adityanath’s claim of investment growth in the state and added that the future of youth was dark under the BJP rule. Source: Times Now
