Mangaluru: After Congress party has failed to gain a majority to form the administration in Ullal Municipal Council, by securing only 13 seats out of 31 seats in the elections, State Minister for Urban Development UT Khader, on Monday confirmed that Congress will not make any ties with SDPI for the power. Addressing a press meet at Circuit House, U T Khader said, "We respect people's mandate. Political changes are common in a democracy. Congress will not make any alliance with SDPI, for power in Ullal Municipal Council. For Congress, the party's ideology is more important than power. The party will decide with whom the party should make alliance to form administration." Congratulating Dharun Ayyasamy and M R Poovamma for clinching the medals in Asian Games, Khader said, "I will discuss with Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy regarding honouring both the athletes by the government, for their performance in Asian Games. "I will also write to the prime minister and minister for sports to recognise the contribution of Poovamma and Dharun Ayyasamy in the Asian Games." Khader also said that he had asked the deputy commissioner to open a centre in the DC office premises or in any other government building in the city, to gather information about the NRIs who have returned to India from Gulf Countries, due to the new policies.
