Nine footballers from Bhatkal selected for Karnataka Team at Khelo India National Beach Games

Bhatkal: 9 January,2025 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) As many as nine boys from Bhatkal were selected to represent Karnataka at the Khelo India National Beach Games, which began on January 5 at Diu Island. The selection marks a record achievement for the coastal town and highlights its growing contribution to football in the state.

The Bhatkal players were part of Karnataka’s football team, which made its debut at the national-level beach games. The team put up a strong performance throughout the tournament, reaching the semi-finals where they faced Goa. Karnataka eventually secured the bronze medal, finishing on the podium in its first appearance at the event.

Officials associated with the team said the players displayed discipline, skill and determination during the competition, contributing significantly to the state’s overall performance.

Participation in the Khelo India National Beach Games is considered important for athletes, as certificates issued at the event are recognised for government job recruitment and admissions under sports quota in several educational institutions across the country.
