"New methods of passport verification being implemented in the distrcit" Uttara Kannada SP says as Bhatkal man complains of harassment to Deputy CM

Bhatkal 14 November 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Replying to a letter written to Karnataka Deputy CM by ex-Jali-Patan Panchayath President Abdul Raheem Shaikh, Uttara Kannada District SP Vinayak Patil has clarified that new methods of password verification are being implemented in the district while discarding the old methods.
Abdul Raheem Shaikh, during the Bhatkal visit of Karnataka Deputy CM Dr. Parameshwara, had handed over a letter complaining about the harassment by the police officials during passport verification, including clicking of pictures of Muslim women by male police officials and had sought clarification from the office of deputy cm about the due procedure.
However as the matter was transferred to the SP's office, SP Vinayak Patil replied to Raheem that new methods of passport verification are being implemented and that new methods has minimised the scope for any harassment by the police officials.
The letter further adds that any document issued by the government of India supporting the claim of the applicant being a resident of India and having no criminal background will be considered for the verification.
"The new methods are being implemented as per the orders of regional passport officer, Bengaluru and possibilities of any kind of harassment is very low" the letter adds.
Speaking to Bhatkallys.com Raheem added "Some of the police officials were harassing people especially women by calling them to police station late in the evening, clicking photos by male officials etc following which I wrote to deputy cm seeking his clarification on the process, they have replied me and assured of no more harassment. We can only wait and watch their attitude now".
