New Coast Guard Police stations at Gangulli, Hejmad, Belkeri and Honnavar soon: DGP

Udupi: June, 29: Around 100 acres of land at Vattinenne near Byndoor is selected for the coastal police training centre and sent for Central Govt. approval said state Director General of Police Lal Lokum Pachaav. He was addressing a press conference after inspecting the boats and jetty at Malpe.

The project will cost Rs.400 crores and wil be finished in 5 years. The training for the coastal guard police from West Bengal,Orissa,Tamil Nadu,Andhra Pradesh,Kerala,Goa,Maharashtra,Gujrath and Karnataka will be given at this center.Karnataka state has already 5 coast guard Police stations and 4 more stations has been sanctioned. Hejmadi,Gangulli,Belkeri nd Honnavara coast guard police stations wil be opened soon he said. These stations will operate from the rented buildings. Rs.48 lakhs for each building has been sanctioned and the work will start soon said Pachaav.

Each station will be given 3 (12-1) speed boats. A total of 12 speed boats will be stationed at 4 new stations he said. 55 police officials will be posted at each stations. A total of 220 new police personnels will be appointed for 4 new stations said DGP.

A new jetty at the cost of 7.5 crores will be constructed at Malpe and Tadadi ports and the work is in progress at these centers. A request for the construction of 7 new jetties at other centers has been sent for Central Govt. approval. The existing fishing jetties will be used by Karavali coastal police he said.

Internal Security Department's Deputy Director General Harsha Vardhan Raju,Karavali coastal Police unit IGP Bhaskar Rao,West Zone IGP Pratap Reddy,Udupi Police SP Veeroba Gaonkar,Udupi Dist. SP Dr.Borelingayya,Additional SP Venkateshappa and Coast Guard unit Dy.SP Mendossa were present at the press conference.
