Mysterious death: Damda Salam found dead

Bhatkal - 11 Sep 201: Abdul Salam Damda (55), popularly known as Medical Salam was found dead in the Kadgal Forest coming under Kumta taluk. He was reportedly missing from his house from past 4 days after he left for Sirsi. Today his partly decomposed body was recovered from the Devi Manighatta forest, some 18 km away from Kumta.

The body was identified by his family members who were shocked on hearing the news. They body was decomposed beyond recognition. His belongings, including his belt, wallet and slippers were the only signs confirming his identity. His son identified the body following which the unfortunate news was confirmed to relatives.

The body is expected to be brought to Bhatkal tonight itself. Salam served as the Vice President of Bhatkal Jali Panchayat and he was known as an active social worker. He was survived by 2 sons and 2 daughters.

After the news of his death was confirmed, people started gathering at his house located in Kargadde.

A case of murder against unknown assailants has been registered in the police station and both Bhatkal and Kumta police are jointly investigating the matter .
