Muzaffarnagar riots: SC orders UP to prevent further death of children in relief camps

Concerned with the deaths of more than 50 children due to cold in relief camps in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas, the Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Uttar Pradesh government to take all necessary steps to ensure no more life is lost. A bench headed by Chief Justice P Sathasivam asked the sate administration to provide necessary materials, including blankets, food and medicines, to all the inmates of the relief camps, preferably by Friday. The court asked the government to file a status report in this regard by the next date of hearing.   PTI
