Muslim-Hindu get-together held

Bhatkal - 19 July 2011: An inter-community meet was held in Bhatkal on Sunday here at the Lalita Kala Mantap (New English High School). Speaking on the occasion Syed Khalilur Rahman called upon the people to promote communal harmony. He said that, 'for any work for the development of Bhatkal or for peace he is always available.'
Presiding over the function, Dr Suresh Nayak, chairman of Bhatkal Education Trust, observed that he was proud to be a Bhatkali and contribution of Navayaths for the development of Bhatkal is immense.'
Among those who were present on the dais and who spoke on the occasion included Inayatullah Shabandri, TMC chief; Syed Abdulla Lanka, president of Rabita Society; SJ Syed Hashim, secretary-general of Rabita Society; Surendra Shanbagh of Seva Vahini Trust; Parvez Kashimji, Tanzeem president; Aftab Husain Kola, journalist; Pradeep Pai, businessman and NG Kolle, politician.
A few others from the audience also spoke. Refreshments were served after program.
