Muscat Eid Milan: A resounding success

MUSCAT - The Bhatkal Muslim Jamat Muscat-organised Eid Milan 2011 proved to be a resounding success as excellent arrangements were appreciated by the crowd. Samiulla Barmavar regaled the crowd in two rounds of renditions. The Eid Milan 2011 began with dinner served at the expansive lawns of Indian School Al Ghubra.. Abdul Basit Ekkeri recited the qiraat which was followed by welcome speech by Hasan Shabber Mohtesham. Moulana Salim Aliakbara and Saleem Sada, president of the BMJ-Muscat, addressed the crowd. S. M. Shakeel sang a beautiful song while Riyaz Sheriff rendered Shabbeer Baida's song Apavta Tumka Gaav Ya.

Over the years skits and performances by Bhatkal kids have been the highlight of the Eid Milan organised in Muscat. This time too the kids displayed immense talent. The skits segment began with a beautiful rendition of a song 'Months of Islam' by 13 kids. The item was directed by Mrs. Faiziya Ashfaque and Sabeena Yaqub Shabandari and participants included rufiya qamar, khadija ashfaq, Halima yaqub, areej arshad ekkeri, abdurrahman aftab kola, mohammed ishthiyaq, ahmed aftab kola, arsalan bari, yusha omran saqqaf, simra Suleiman fakarde, saja Suhail ekkeri, turfa tayba khalid M.J.and Fathima saleem ali akbara. Next skit was Ulta Pulta Chi Anjani Mazaaq which was directed by Dr. Wasima Ayub Siddibapa and performed by shamsuddin ayub sidibapa, aysha ayub sidibapa, ibrahim khalid M.J. and ismail khalid M.J. Then Samiulla Barmavar was recieved on the stage with a big applause. He rendered some new nazms alongwith the popular ones which were well appreciated. Sooneso Darbar directed by Mrs Ruksar Qamar Merchant was appreciated. Maryam Aftab Kola, Aysha Qamar Merchant, Ula Suhail Ekkeri, and Rufiya Qamar Merchant performed in this skit.

Dr Munna Bhai MBBS, which was highly acknowledged in 2009, came back with part 2. Directed by Ilaf Suhail Ekkeri (who also played the main role), the skit had azzam arshad ekkeri, arfa arshad ekkeri, mohammed saleem aliakbara, shees ismail yaqub, rifaaq qamar merchant and aneeq ansar siddiqui as participants.

Mama Charwachi Zapni directed by Niamat lowna abubakar and faiza nisar MJ had shamsuddin ayub siddibapa, Sahal abubakar lowna, zeeshaan nisar M.J., sara asif kola and raja ishthiyaq Udyavar as participants. Another skit Apna Mazhab was directed by Mrs Niyamat Lowna Abubaker and Faiza Nisar MJ and performed by shaaz suleiman fakharde, shumair suleiman siddibapa, mohammed ishtiyaq Udyavar, zeeshan nisar MJ and sahal abubakar lowna. Nisar Ruknuddin performed a few comedy items. Abdullah Rafeeque sang his latest eid nazm.

Riyaz Merchant, convenor of the Eid Milan committee, proposed a vote of thanks. Aftab Kola, senior vice-president, BMJ and Qamar Merchant, GS-BMJ, compered the programme in Navayathi language very well.

Exciting prizes were at stake including a bike (won by Naveed Ruknuddin), air ticket, laptop, etc. Suhail Ekkeri, Lowna Abdubaker, Husain Barmavar and Wajid Damudi conducted the raffle. Moulana Salim Aliakbara made d'ua. Transportation was arranged from Ruwi and Seeb. The programme ended at 12.45am.
