Murudeshwar: Fishing boat sinks off coast, crew rescued

Murdeshwar: 23 Dec,2025 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) A fishing boat named Maisha-2, which had gone out to sea from the Murudeshwar fishing harbour, sank off the Murudeshwar coast in the early hours of Saturday.

 

The boat belongs to Mohammed Shareek-ul-Islam, a resident of Azeezuddin Road near the Murudeshwar harbour. It had left the harbour on December 16 with a driver from Andhra Pradesh and six fishermen on board.

 

According to information, the boat was engaged in fishing about 14 nautical miles off the Murudeshwar coast when it was caught in strong sea waves around 3.15 am on December 20, leading to its sinking. All those on board were rescued by fishermen from another nearby boat.

 

A case has been registered at the Murudeshwar police station in connection with the incident. The boat owner has stated in his complaint that the incident resulted in an estimated loss of around Rs 60 lakh.
